Microteaching Cycle Steps

The six steps are generally involved in the micro-teaching cycle are-Plan, Teach, Feedback, Replan, Retech and Re-feedback

Step-1: Plan

Planning is the first step before starting the actual teaching, this step includes the selection of topics and related contents so that the components of the skill under practice may be made easily and conveniently. The activities are planned in such a logical sequence that maximum application of the components of a skill is possible.

Step-2: Teach

This step takes place during the teaching-learning process. In this step, teacher trainees are to use the components of the skills in suitable situations coming up in the process of teaching-learning as per the planning of activities.

If the pre-planned activities are not suitable for the current conditions the teacher should modify the activities as per the demand of the class and situation. He/she should have the courage and confidence to handle the situation arising in the class effectively.

Step-3: Feedback

In this step, the observer gives feedback to the teacher trainee about his/her performance. The feedback includes the points of strength as well as weakness about his/her performance. This helps the teacher trainee to improve upon their performance in the desired directions.

Step-4: Re-Plan

After receiving the feedback, the teacher trainee re-plans his/her lesson incorporating the points of strength and removing the points not skillfully handled during a teaching in the previous attempts either on the same topic or on another topic suiting to the teacher trainee for improvement.

Step-5: Re-Teach

This involves teaching to the same group of pupils if the topic is changed or a different group of pupils if the topic is the same. This is done to remove the boredom or monotony of the pupil. The teacher trainee teaches the class with renewed courage and confidence to perform better than the previous attempt.

Step-6: Re-feedback

This is the most important component of Micro-teaching for behaviour modification of teacher trainees in the desired direction in every skill practice.
